I arrived in Greece via a series of overnight flights (PDX>DFW, DFW>PHL, PHL>ATH). Thankfully, these were uneventful.
While still in Portland—prior to leaving the States—I made a reservation at Athens’ Titania Hotel for my first two nights. You see, I wasn’t in a planning mood, but also wanted a soft place to land.
I’d stayed at Titania before and knew it to be clean and comfortable.
I arrived in the late morning and my room wasn’t ready, so I took myself upstairs to the roof garden bar for some sun, lunch, a glass of wine, and a view of the Acropolis. It was impressive in person, but I’m not sure how noticeable it is in the video I took (posted below).
Their breakfast buffet (also posted below) is also to die for.
The idea was to plan out the rest of my stay only after I arrived, got my bearings, and got in the mood. Well, that didn’t happen as quickly as I would have expected. I spent my first few days in retreat: I hung out, took baths, hung out some more, and took bathed some more. I didn’t even try to adjust my sleep schedule to the local clock. I slept when I wanted, woke up whenever, and had absolutely no routine. I highly recommend this if you have the time!
