I surprised myself by being more low-key than I thought I would be. Being in Greece usually lights up my insides — and this time’s no different. Still, having chosen to stay in a central neighborhood, I wrongly thought I’d find entertainment everywhere. And when you’re out you meet people, and when you meet people you go out. But most of what I saw around me was not what I was looking for. I would need to learn where to go, and just was not in a hurry. For one thing, I’ve my writing and computer to keep me busy days. For another, the weather was just on the cusp of getting nice. But wasn’t there yet.
And speaking of nice weather, the very first use of my brand new knife (those in the shared kitchen were so dull, you couldn’t cut!) was to disengage the plastic tie of this divider thing that was blocking my view of the Acropolis. It felt almost criminal but I know it is nothing. After I freed the right side the divider (the thing made of reeds, I don’t know what it’s called), the quality of my balcony time shot up 100%. And six days later, when guests occupied the room next to me (probably for the first time this year), a good time was had by all, as if we were just hanging out together on a single balcony.
