It was time to finally see Mesa Verde National Park, just minutes from Cortez, CO. I already knew to expect a long and winding drive within the park. Cool.
At the park, I came across lots of interesting people. Sure, we see nice people in parks—but I’m telling you, they were interesting. My head was not 100% attuned, as I recently discovered some looming issues that I need to tend to. But my ears perked up as I heard one of the people describe how to tell that lightning had struck the dead tree in our path. And after that, others in his group caused me to pay attention.
We wound up all driving into town together after the park. It was sweet! But then I felt the need to get going so I could get to Moab before nightfall.
And one more thing. Just was we went for our cars (after seeing the park), I felt a drop of rain. This is the first rain I experienced on this trip—and the rain was polite enough to wait for me to finish my outdoor adventure.
