Day 13: Sun Sep 18

I wanted to get an early start on Sunday, but this would not be. This is not the first time I will express surprise at the recurrent electrical issues with my computer. I feel like calling it my brand new computer, as it practically is. At any rate, it failed again. I knew my choices, I already know the drill. So?

I treated myself to a brand new computer at Costco this morning. Yup, I could have handled my need to work any number of ways, and decided to make a purchase. The decision is not a light one. It enabled me to deliver a class that Sunday afternoon and to begin my part-time professional work on Sunday night. Yes, the plan was to take vacation for the first week of this journey, but to work part-time the latter two weeks. I did not feel I could wait for warranty services and troubleshooting.

Picture me entering Costco moments after they open, playing eenie-meenie-miney-mo to choose a computer, and walking out of the store moments later. I already knew where Panera (and its free wifi) was in the shopping center, so I moved my car 700 feet and started loading Windows updates, Chrome, Paint.net, Adobe Reader, and Zoom on the computer. That done, I was on my way.

HP computer with multiple windows arranged on screen.

And let me tell you guys, I’m loving my new computer. It is not as pricey or modern as the sick computer, but it’s huge! This laptop by HP is so wide that I can split the screen and view two different items comfortably.

Unfortunately, I had to skip Salida, CO in order to make my afternoon class. Next stop: My hotel in Monte Vista, CO. I made it there with an hour to spare!
